2011 U.S. Kids Golf Monterey Challenge
Del Monte Golf Course & Monterey Pines Golf Course
November 5-6, 2011
The first-annual Monterey Challenge will take place in Monterey, Calif., one of the finest golfing areas of the country.
At 113 years old, Del Monte Golf Course
is the oldest golf course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. It was the original host of the California State Amateur, and remains one of three courses that hosts the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational, which boasts former champions Nick Watney, Mark Brooks, Jason Bohn and John Mallinger among others.
Monterey Pines Golf Course
is located less than one mile from Del Monte GC. It offers a contrast to Del Monte's history, as it underwent a major redesign in 2009 led by Marc Messier. The facility is managed by the Navy Golf Program, thus earning its local nickname of the "Navy Course."
