2012 U.S. Kids Golf Desert Shootout
February 18-19, 2012
The Wigwam has three 18-hole championship golf courses that each offer incredible variety to the golfer looking for both diversity and challenge. Designed to provide a pure golf experience, the Gold, Patriot and Heritage are true parkland courses that are woven in and around the natural terrain of trees, lakes, canals and streams. Desert Shootout participants will play either the Gold or Patriot Course. Please visit www.wigwamresort.com for more information about The Wigwam Resort & Spa.
Designed by the master designer himself, the Gold course was created in 1964 to rival another of Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s courses, the famed South Course at Firestone Country Club. At more than 7,430 yards, this long and winding par-72 course will challenge even the finest of golfers, leaving them with club choices that will either reward or reprimand their decisions.
Once known as the Blue course, The Patriot has been described as the "great contradiction" in that it behaves so very differently from front to backside. Also a Jones, Sr. creation, this 6,000 yard, par-70 course is known to be both technical and challenging yet subtle, as golfers must negotiate a number of perilous bunkers, thirsty ponds and challenging dog-leg fairways.
